About Our Smart Shelter

This shelter is designed to be a humane and sustainable way to support stray dogs in Mauritius. It combines simple technology, solar energy and community involvement to provide daily support while also helping animal welfare groups monitor where dogs gather.

Solar Powered

Runs using clean solar energy.

Food System

Releases controlled portions of kibble.

Rainwater Collection

Collects rainwater through a gutter system.

Safe Shelter

Provides shade and protection from rain and heat.

Monitoring

Helps check dog visits and maintenance needs.

How the food system works

The shelter relies on gravity and sunlight — simple, low-cost ideas that keep working even with little maintenance.

Why the QR Code Matters

The QR code makes the shelter interactive. People can scan it to support the project, report damage, or contact the responsible team. This helps the shelter stay maintained instead of being forgotten after installation.
